Data Deletion Instructions
Customers and individuals can request deletion without needing continued access to a ShipMsg account.
Effective September 3, 2026
Authorized customer administrators
- Sign in to ShipMsg and open the Privacy controls for the relevant account.
- Create a deletion request and identify the account, contact, or subject scope.
- Complete step-up verification and review the deletion preview.
- Submit the request and retain its reference for status and completion evidence.
Requests by email
If you cannot sign in, email privacy@shipmsg.com with the subject “Data deletion request.” Include the ShipMsg customer business name and enough information to locate the data. Do not send passwords, message content, payment card details, or government identity documents by email. We will provide a secure method if additional verification is necessary.
End recipients
If a business contacted you through ShipMsg, that business normally controls your contact and message data. Send your request to that business first. ShipMsg will forward or assist with a verified request where appropriate, but cannot override a customer's independent legal obligation or delete data that belongs to a different identified business without validating the request and scope.
Processing and exceptions
We verify authority, notify the controlling customer when appropriate, and track each request through completion. A legal hold, fraud or security investigation, charge dispute, or mandatory recordkeeping obligation may delay or narrow deletion. When an exception applies, access remains restricted and the request records the reason. Backups expire under their protected lifecycle and are not restored except for disaster recovery.
ShipMsg targets completion within 30 days where the GDPR applies and within the period required by other applicable law. Protected backup expiry can take up to 35 days. If a valid exception prevents full deletion, we explain the category retained, reason and available appeal unless law prohibits that disclosure.
Appeals and complaints
To appeal a denied request, reply with the original request reference and “Privacy appeal” in the subject. We will review the decision independently where required. The response identifies any regulator or attorney-general complaint route available under applicable law.
